Some Action on Colley Gate Eyesore - but redevelopment plans still not submitted

April 22, 2021 6:25 PM

Colley Gate

The owner of Colley Gates abandoned shops, who has previously ignored requests to carry out safety repairs to the run-down properties has been issued a court order.

Following efforts from council officers, Dudley Magistrates' Court has ordered the owner, Mr Hussain to undertake the works to remove the danger or to demolish part or all of the properties within the next 26 weeks.

Ryan Priest, Liberal Democrat candidate for Cradley and Wollescote said:

"I welcome the action at last, but how it has taken so long to ask something so little is beyond me. They stand as a monument of the Labour and Conservative party's decades of failure in Cradley

"Me and The Liberal Democrats want these shops torn down as soon as possible. I was disappointed to learn that despite yet more grand promises from the local Tories, plans for redevelopment haven't even been submitted yet.

"This is a tiny step, but it is at least in the right direction. If locals back me and the Liberal Democrats at the election in May, Colley Gate regeneration will be at the top of our agenda."
