"On 20th September the UK Student Climate Network is calling on everyone - adults, workers, community groups, trade unionists, nurses, teachers, steelworkers, car manufacturers, waiters and everyone else in between to join us in a global general climate strike. We will be joining people all around the world in what's set to be a massive day of climate action.

Catherine Maguire, a member of Transition Stourbridge, is showing support by organising an early morning vigil around the ring road in Stourbridge.

Says Catherine "I have been really impressed by the young people who have organised the strikes so far; they have been articulate, knowledgeable and passionate about the need for radical action to avert catastrophic climate change."
"We adults have failed them; we have known about this problem for over 30 years but successive governments have done little or nothing to make the changes necessary. These young people have looked at the science, they've looked at the world they are likely to inherit and have decided they must do something to force adults to act before irreversible and runaway global heating threatens their future."
She has written to the heads of all primary and secondary schools in Stourbridge, asking if they will mark this day in some way. She has sent each school a copy of 'NO ONE IS TOO SMALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE' by Greta Thunberg, in the hope that it will inspire other young people to stand up for the climate.
Transition Stourbridge are asking parents, teachers, members of the public who feel unable to take strike action that day to join them, by holding a vigil around the Stourbridge ring road between 7am and 9 am on the morning of 20th September.

Join us in Stourbridge and let's make this the largest climate mobilisation our town has achieved.

We have a chance to deliver a clear message for climate justice just 3 days before the UN emergency climate summit on 23rd September.

Join us. Let's mobilise together."
