Are you confused by the boundary changes?
Are you confused by the boundary changes?
Did you know Stourbridge constituency has changed?
Chris Bramall writes:
"As the General Election approaches, people may (or may not) be beginning to realise that the map of the Stourbridge constituency has changed quite a bit since last time. Some voters and some representatives of the media, not to mention some politicians, including me, may find it rather confusing. I'll try to explain it.
"The new constituency boundaries will come in this year (2010). They were recommended by the Boundary Commission, on the basis of new ward boundaries brought in in 2004. These new ward boundaries were recommended by the Electoral Commission, who made a right dog's dinner of it. So don't be surprised if the new constituency boundaries are a bit of a dog's dinner too. So here goes...
"First, there is a big group of about 4,800 voters in the Mushroom Green/Dudley Wood/Bowling Green area who used to vote as part of Dudley South constituency. They are now part of Quarry Bank & Dudley Wood ward, so they will now find themselves in Stourbridge constituency.
"Secondly, there is a group of about 250 voters living around the far end of Richardson Drive. They used to vote as part of Dudley South constituency, but because they are now in Amblecote ward, they will now find themselves voting in Stourbridge constituency.
"Thirdly, there is a small group of about 150 voters who live in the High Park Road/Two Gates/Barnswood Close area of Cradley. They used to be part of Halesowen & Rowley Regis constituency. Because they are now in Cradley & Foxcote ward, they will now be voting as part of Stourbridge constituency.
"Last but not least there is a fair sized group of about 1,400 voters who live in the Colman Hill/Banners Lane area of Cradley. These voters used to vote as part of the Stourbridge constituency. Because they are now in Belle Vale Ward, they have been taken out of the Stourbridge constituency and will now find themselves in Halesowen & Rowley Regis constituency.
"I hope that makes it clear!"
