Chris Bramall , prospective Liberal Democrat candidate for the Stourbridge constituency (Stourbridge, Quarry Bank, Cradley and Dudley Wood) has signed up to the 10:10 campaign. This is a promise to reduce personal carbon emissions by 10% in 2010 in order that thousands of individuals and organisations, working together, can achieve a 10% reduction of the UK's carbon emissions in 2010.

Chris Bramall says: "Everyone's looking for something to do about climate change. What's needed is something straightforward, immediate and meaningful. 10:10 makes this possible. By signing up to 10:10 we're not just promising to reduce our own emissions - we're becoming part of a national drive to hit this ambitious goal country-wide.

"I am just one person, but 57,700 individuals have already signed up to 10:10, along with 2,200 businesses, 1,500 schools, colleges and universities, and 1,200 other organisations. The Liberal Democrats are backing the 10:10 campaign in Parliament, in the important city councils that they control, and as individual MPs and candidates."

The 10:10 website www.1010uk.org says: "Cutting 10% in one year is a bold target, but for most of us it's an achievable one, and is in line with what scientists say we need right now. In our homes, in our workplaces, our schools and our hospitals, our galleries and football clubs and universities, we'll be backing each other up as we take the first steps on the road to becoming a low-carbon society."
