Conservative’s Caught Out in Foxcote CCTV Mistruth
Dudley Conservatives are under fire after a Freedom of Information request by the Liberal Democrats has revealed that no permanent CCTV or Deployable CCTV has ever been in place on Foxcote Lane - despite claims by the Conservatives that cameras are used at this flytipping hotspot.
Flytipping has been a regular occurrence on Foxcote Lane, and residents regularly raise the issue to the local Liberal Democrat Focus Team.
It has been promised by a series of Conservative council candidates that permanent CCTV would be installed on the lane. This ambition has since been downgraded to deployable CCTV, which residents were told has been used here already, but the Liberal Democrats FOI has uncovered that this is not the case.
Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Cradley and Wollescote, Ryan Priest said:
"Our Freedom of Information Request has revealed more Tory mistruths and incompetence in Cradley & Wollescote. It's one thing in the leaflets before an election, it is another in reality after one.
"Our Conservative Councillor claimed that cameras were already in place. This is not the case.
"Only the Liberal Democrats have a real plan to tackle flytipping in the Dudley Borough - and to the Conservative's horror that will mean more than just words."
The Liberal Democrats are calling for a three-step plan to tackle flytipping in the Dudley Borough:
- Harsher fines for offenders
- CCTV in Flytipping Hotspots
- An end to the Council's Bulky Waste Collection Fee
