Dudley Council, snow, grit and jams

Dear Sir

I had the feeling that through most of the wintry weather Dudley Council's gritters, refuse collectors and other workers did a sterling job, at least in our area, so the Council must have got something right. But on Monday 1st February there was some more snow, and something went very wrong. As an example, it was impossible for my wife, Helen, to get from our home in Wollaston to work in Dudley, either by car or by bus, because of solid traffic jams in three different directions. I just could not believe it when I saw that Conservative traffic chief Angus Adams was putting the blame on motorists for being "too careful"! I've heard of the wrong sort of snow, but this is ridiculous. Let's praise motorists for being careful - and put the blame where it belongs, if there is any blame to be taken. To be honest I've no idea whether Dudley Council were in any way to blame for the traffic chaos, but when they use daft excuses like that, it looks just a bit as if they are trying to hide something!

Yours faithfully

Chris Bramall (prospective Liberal Democrat candidate, Stourbridge)
