Dear Sir

It is bad news that unemployment is rising in the Stourbridge area - and I agree with the Conservative candidate when she says she's very worried about it. The only trouble is that I can't see how Conservative policies could do anything except make matters worse. It is the Labour Government, along with the Bush administration in the US - and, yes along with the Conservative opposition here - who bear the responsiblity for not preventing the financial collapse that triggered the recession. They all followed the same line - don't bother about regulating the speculators - let the markets rip. But it would surely be a suicidal policy to do what the Conservatives are now demanding - that the Government and the Bank of England stop intervening to save the economy from collapse. Stourbridge families can be grateful that the Conservatives aren't in charge at Westminster as well as in Dudley.
