Dear Sir

I understand that the Stourbridge Green Party has the intention to put up a candidate in the general election. Normally I would feel the more candidates there are the better. But through your columns, may I very sincerely invite the Green Party to consider whether they might in conscience feel that they could withdraw from the Stourbridge contest so as to avoid splitting the green vote. I am a local candidate with nine years' experience as a councillor, and have fought the Stourbridge constituency three times. I need to double my vote in order to win. I have always been consistent in putting environmental issues at the heart of my campaign, and will always do so, as I believe that the fight against climate change is the most serious issue facing our generation. I am happy to meet with representatives of the Green Party at any time. This public appeal is in no way intended to embarrass the Green Party, and if they reject it, then so be it. However I do hope they will consider seriously what I am suggesting.

Yours sincerely

Chris Bramall,

prospective Liberal Democrat candidate,

Stourbridge constituency
