“Not for Sale!” – The Liberal Democrats fight AGAINST council plans to tear up the countryside.
Ryan Priest, Liberal Democrat candidate for Cradley and Wollescote, has today voiced his 'absolute opposition' to the council plans to build over 1500 hours around Foxcote Lane. These plans were recently made public by the council in their call for sites, as a part of the Black Country Core Strategy.
"Protecting our green belt is not just about protecting the beauty this part of the Black Country has to offer, there are also considerable environmental benefits, such as capturing carbon and protecting the water supply from pollution"
"We cannot shy away from growing housing crisis, but we have options other than tarmacking over the green belt."
Ryan and the local Liberal Democrats are calling for Dudley Council to scrap any developments on the green belt, and instead focus on development on brownfield land, and bringing derelict properties back into use.
"The are many abandoned industrial sites that litter the Black Country, including two huge sites near the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge. Our policy is to develop on these sites for as long as possible."
"Our Green Belt is not for sale, and I will be fighting the council on this every step of the way."
