Chris Bramall, the Liberal Democrats' prospective candidate for Stourbridge says:

"I read in the press that the scheme for parking charges at Merry Hill has been scrapped. That's great news for shoppers and great news for the shops at Merry Hill.

"But what about Stourbridge Town Centre? For years Stourbridge residents and businesses have asked for free parking in Stourbridge Town Centre so as to level the playing field with Merry Hill. And for years Dudley Council (Labour and Conservative) have fobbed Stourbridge off with the promise that one day there would be parking charges at Merry Hill. Were they lying? Or have the Conservatives just lost the plot as usual?

"I challenge Conservative Dudley Council to announce that parking charges in Stourbridge Town Centre will be abolished immediately. It's time to play fair by Stourbridge."
