The need for a Council-led blitz on litter, graffiti and dog-poo; Chris Bramall writes:

If elected, June Collins and I are determined to do all we can to ensure that there is a massive zero-tolerance effort to remove litter, graffiti and dog mess from our streets and parks - and to keep it removed. The Council needs to give a lead - improving cleansing services, prosecuting offenders, and ensuring that convictions get the maximum publicity.

But it's not just a matter for the Council - it's a matter for all of us. We need to teach ourselves - and our children - that dropping litter is never, ever acceptable behaviour. Living in a mess is unpleasant - and unnecessary. What lead are our schools giving in this respect?

Residents' initiatives to clear the streets of litter are much to be welcomed. Have a look at this video of one of the Tidy Stourbridge litterpicks in our area - including the efforts of yours truly! http://tidystourbridge.wordpress.com/2011/03/14/picknpint-march-2011-wollaston/
